The new video from St. Vincent for the track “Actor Out Of Work” off of the upcoming Actor (out 5/5) is fairly straight forward. Annie Clark comes into a large warehouse set up for some kind of casting call, sits down with her old school cassette player, presses play (love the squeakiness), and sings as all the actors take turns in the chair opposite. Good video for a ggggreatt song. Check it:

St. Vincent‘s upcoming Actor LP is being heralded as a more sonically diverse album with deeper layers in each song. The first song we heard, “The Strangers”, supported that claim, and this new song, “Actor Out Of Work”, certainly does as well.

Coming in May (the 5th to be exact) St. Vincent will bring us the new album Actor. Annie Clark was feeling kind today and decided to give all of us a glimpse of how the album will be. On her site she released “The Strangers” and boy is it sweet. Imagine you’re walking through a cloud with sunbeams poking through. Magical…majesty…yup….that’s all in this song. It really starts up about two thirds of the way into when a bright fuzzy beat and melody kick into high gear before fading quietly into the end. St. Vincent has come to impress. Can’t wait until May.

Annie Clark aka St. Vincent is back on the scene with the announcement of a new album. Actor will be released on May 5th via 4AD and features a grander, more complex album that builds on her stunning debut Marry Me. Clark says “I wanted to make these songs technicolor animatronic rides.” Sounds good right? Just for a refresher here’s a sparkling track from Marry Me:
