Poor Spirits is up to something again…this time in the form of Mellow, an upcoming release. The title track has him going back to the instrumentals, but roughing up the sound a bit. The drums are notably raw and I like it.

Somedays I look at my inbox and wonder why the hell I ever started this confounded music blog. Then there are days like today where I’m thankful that I did. As of late you might have noticed some posts on Poor Spirits, a rad electronic pop artist that I really know nothing about. But yet through email and twitter I’ve come to know the dude a little bit, so much so that he values my opinion on new work before he puts it out. ??? That’s an amazing feeling. I’m honored really that anyone would think that of me and Pasta Primavera. Anyways he’s sent some new stuff over, one being “Benefits”, and it’s my jam right now. Sugar sweet electronic pops with eerie auto-tuned vocals that somehow fit perfectly.

Poor Spirits – Forever Cruising EP
The frigid electronic travels of Poor Spirits have been some of my favorites over the last few months. They have now been cataloged in a bright and blazing EP, Forever Cruising. Earlier “No Bad Days” gave me an insight to what kind of tronic-pop Poor Spirits was getting mixed up in and Forever Cruising is a lengthier extension of that chill style. They then throw in a sick seemingly random (but making sense in the grand scheme) re-work of Missy Elliott and this EP sparkles. DL it for free right here.
