A Birthday Mix by Elias

Today my son Elias turns 2.  Kind of unbelievable how fast time flies.  He is pure happiness all the time and has changed my life completely (in a good way of course).  Over the past few weeks we’ve noticed he’s REALLY taken to some of the music I’ve been playing during dinner. And when I say taken to I mean dancing, singing, and generally rocking out to it.  So in typical music blogger fashion I decided to chronicle them in a mix.  Take a listen:

mp3: The Futureheads – Sun Goes Down

mp3: Sunglasses – Whiplash

mp3: Five O’Clock Heroes – Rough Boys

mp3: Sonic Youth – Kool Thing (Cracks Remix)

mp3: Dinosaur Bones – Birthright

mp3: Daniel J. Santillan – Do For You

mp3: Triptides – Shadows

mp3: Chalk And Numbers – Here With (Each Other)

mp3: Pandit – Artichoke

mp3: Ice Cream Shout – Marianne

mp3: Rakim – Let The Rhythm Hit ‘Em

mp3: School Of Seven Bells – Camarilla

Chalk And Numbers - He Knew EP

There’s a lot of 60s pop throwback music emerging in modern music these days, and it can become a bit tiresome.  Occasionally the right voice melds with the right songwriting and BOOM – friggin magic.  This is the case for Brooklyn duo Chalk And Numbers.  Made up of Andrew Pierce (of The New Rags and Nouvellas) and Sable Yong (of Year of the Tiger), these folks play yesteryear music that hits the heart and ears in the right way.  They also make the cold days not so cold and the early nights not so dark with their He Knew EP.  Get it FREE on their bandcamp.
