A few days ago I posted on Little Girls and their release on Hand Drawn Dracula. Well that mighty fine little label has gone and done something super special just in time for the holidays. If you take a trip to their Facebook page, you can grab a free digital download of the Vicious Circles EP – a collaborative cover EP featuring Black Moth Super Rainbow, Shugo Tokumaru, and Holy Fuck all playing each others tunes. This thing sparkles. Not that shocking really considering I’m a big fan of all three. The standout is Shugo Tokumaru’s cover of BMSR’s “Sun Lips”. I’m not sure if I’ve ever heard a BMSR song covered before, but he manages to keep the soul of the song intact while completely reconstructing it in his own voice. BMSR slay his track as well.

Next Monday everyone’s favorite ear-trip, Black Moth Super Rainbow, is rolling into Baltimore’s Ottobar for an all ages show with Marshmallow Ghosts and Red Falcons. Turns out I have a pair of tickets to give away to this fine event. To enter just email me at [email protected] with BMSR MELTS MY EARS in the subject line (make sure to include your first and last names peoples!). I will choose a winner THIS Friday so hurry up!

Air…I generally like them. But some of their music is fairly hit or miss with me. Take the track “Sing Sang Sung”. Nothing going on there for me. It’s light, airy, fluffy…and frankly boring. That’s where Black Moth Super Rainbow step with their rough and spectacular remix of that particular track. BMSR give this flimsy lil track some much needed weight and texture. AWESOME.

John! Nope – he couldn’t do it so in his place Patrick Knight you’re the winner! Enjoy the show!

The Go! Team put a smile upon my face no matter what they are doing. They’ve just put out a new remix of the uber-psychedelic “Twin Of Myself” by Black Moth Super Rainbow. Basically it sounds like all the Go! Team boys and girls joined the Black Moth Super Rainbow bunch and had a crazy tripped out Saturday morning cartoon romp on a sunny hillside somewhere. Check it:

Another cool part about this remix is that it had me listening to this older remix that I’d completely forgotten about:
