active child you are all I see

Late night drifting in and out of sleep.  Driving through a nameless metropolis that borders on darkness and pulsating red yellows.  The hum of travel blends with the bass…a lullaby of sorts.  Twilight sadness fades into the emerging blue city skyline.  We park the car, embrace, and let the lows ride out.  The sun comes out and it’s over.

Active Child’s You Are All I See is emotional electronic avant garde music at its best, and it is currently burning daydreamed audio memories into my frontal lobe.  Get this album…wait until 3:30-4 AM-ish…then let the magic begin.

A Handful of Remixes from BODYTIME, Diplo & Lunice, School Of Seven Bells, Labyrinth Ear, and Andrew Broder

remix

Its Wednesday and I wish it was Friday already…ho hum.  So I decided to spice things up and finally post this set of remixes that I’ve been cooking up for the last week or so.  Really this group of tracks has something for all occasions whether its the sugar high of Labyrinth Ear‘s rework of Alex Winston, the hypnotic take down School Of Seven Bells did of Active Child, the uber-mix superstars Diplo and Lunice put together of superstar band Deerhunter, the driving-with-your-windows-down kind of explosion that BODYTIME seems to always muster and does again with this Sufjan remix, or the sleepy brood of Andrew Broder‘s take on an equally sleepy and spectral S. Carey.  Take a listen:

mp3: Sufjan Stevens – Impossible Soul (BODYTIME Edit)

mp3: Deerhunter – Helicopter (Diplo & Lunice Mix)

mp3: Active Child – I’m In Your Church At Night (School Of Seven Bells Remix)

mp3: Alex Winston – Choice Notes (Labyrinth Ear Remix)

mp3: S. Carey – Broken (Andrew Broder Remix)

Sitting on the beach.  Watching the small waves crash and roll and creep their way up to callouses on my toes.  The ripples are slow and hypnotic almost like the world was breathing in and out.  But something is unreal about this vision…its only a memory…fading and dispersing throughout the cracked and chaotic mind of mine.

That was the mild fantasy brought on by listening to LA’s Active Child aka Pat Grossi.  He has a new EP Curtis Lane coming out on June 1st (via Filter Recordings) and its pretty grand (in my mind of course).  There’s also a ton of remixes of his tracks as well as some remixes of his own.  Here’s a smidgen of all that:

mp3: Active Child – Voice Of An Old Friend

mp3: Kisses – Bermuda (Active Child Remix)

mp3: Wolf Gang – Back To Back (Active Child Remix)
