It’s rare that I latch onto music this quickly, but the duo Joseph Stallion (Erin Ross and Max Petrek) and their White Lodge EP have completely trashed my mind as of late. Ross has soft pop vocals sucked into and redirected through the large networked scope of Petrek’s production. Going from chopped lo-fi to booming dark waves, but always ultimately hanging around their modern pop ideals.
“We are dream pop classicists with an open mind to the minimal beats of the trap/swag rap of recent years. Our music is made on the internet through the exchange of emails and we are heavily influenced by the cheap recording and youtube quality encoding. We believe strongly in pop progressions and structures, and are trying to bring the extreme sonic pallet of modern electronic music to the classic pop song form.”

Yes this song has already been through the remix ringer (so to speak) and normally I kind of just glaze over emails that include “The xx remix” or “Radiohead remix”, etc., but if it includes Beat Culture – I’m listening. Glad I did because Sunik Kim kills it again in his own rain soaked beats kind of way. Take a listen:
And if you do not already have Beat Culture’s phenomenal Tokyo Dreamer – go grab it.

It’s my birthday today….so why not take the party into the late late evening with this restless electronic instrumental from my chill friend Poor Spirits:

New York’s Sur La Lune play some seriously candy sweet pop pummeled with thick synth. Love it.

Australia’s Glisk just dropped an fluttering electronic gem in “Fold Us”. Its part of their upcoming EP Hermaion which will be released in a few weeks. Meanwhile if you haven’t checked their first EP Servants Heart, you should (scoop it for free at bandcamp).
