Brooklyn’s Big Voyage (Elias Ravin) makes bass music that is dense and powerful. Yes it makes you want to dance, but Ravin composes some really extravagant and beautiful jams. Usually they revolve around one vocal sample that gets ravaged and transformed by a host of lasers and bass. He has a debut EP, Be The One, coming out soon on This Way Down / Cue Recordings.
Montreal’s CFCF (Mike Silver) has his Exercises EP available to to stream for free over on the Dummy SoundCloud. If you have some time to space out and smile, I’d suggest heading over there and pressing play. Its some seriously captivating/mellowing electronic music…

As far as compilations go, this has got to be one of the best I’ve heard in a while. Mexico’s Bad Pop has gone and put together a spectacular compilation, Materia Obscura, full of some of my favorite artists such as Beat Culture, Nomadic Firs, PARENTZ, Pariah Carey, and Steffaloo and introduced me to some new ones like Dalliance and Bedroom.
