The Run Down – Saturday September 20, 2008

Tonight there are three sweet shows throughout the region.  In DC the Velvet Lounge has The Childballads, Dame Satan, and Foreign Press.  Up in Philly Fillmore at the TLA has The Dandy Warhols and Darker My Love while The Electric Factory has The Mars Volta.  That’s about it unless you all have any suggestions…

The Run Down – Friday September 19, 2008

Tonight in Baltimore the Ottobar has Soul Cannon and The Egg Babies Orchestra while the Metro Gallery has The Squaaks, Grammar Debate, The Swimmers, and Los Doggies.  Also in Harm City is Crooked Looks who play the Bedrock with Grilled Lincolns, Lunic, and Sonic Social.  Or if you want the big show in Baltimore you might want to head over to Sonar to see The Pretenders, The Hold Steady, and The All Mighty Senators.  Down in DC the Black Cat has Sunset Rubdown and Parenthetical Girls.  It’s a big night if you’re up in PHilly.  The Fillmore at the TLA has Ice Cube while the Starlight Ballroom has Mogwai and Fuck Buttons.  The North Star Bar has Steve Goldberg and the Arch Enemies, On Mono, The Defog, Soft Targets, and The Private Sea, but the show of the night might just be at the Trocadero with Stars (don’t forget to pick up the tour exclusive Sad Robots EP) and Bell X1.  Photo by Luke Olsen

Tonight in DC the 9:30 club has James while DC9 has This Will Destroy You.  Over in Fredericksburg, VA the Third Floor has another all ages show with Meredith Bragg and Andy Zipf.  Up in Philly the First Unitarian Church has Sunset Rubdown and Parenthetical Girls while Johnny Brenda’s has Peasant, Death Vessel, and Micah Blue Smaldone.  Finally in Philly the M Room has Brothers and Sisters, Adam and Dave’s Bloodline, Phonograph, and Impossible Hair.   Photo by Josh Gross

Tonight in Baltimore the Lyric Opera House has the legendary Talking Heads frontman David Byrne playing in support of his new album with Brian Eno.  Also in B-more is Midnight Juggernauts who take down the Ottobar as part of the Scion House Party with Heartsrevolution and Stereo Faith.  Oh did I mention it’s FREE!  Down in the district, DC9 has Basia Bulat and our old favorite Vandaveer.  Finally up north in the city of brotherly love the First Unitarian Church has Why? and Mount Eerie.

Tonight in DC the Black Cat has a phenomenal show with Miracle Fortress, Meredith Bragg, and Title Tracks (the new solo venture of John Davis from Georgie James).  Also in DC is Mogwai who performs at the 9:30 club with Fuck Buttons.  Finally in Philly the Barbary plays host to Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and Wild Light.  Enjoy!
