J Cold Cold Nights

J – “Boy”

J Cold Cold Nights

Start-track is a pretty fine blog that recently dropped this Czech Republic lo-fi rock gem in J.  I couldn’t drum up too much information besides the 4 track digital release, Cold Cold Nights, on J’s Bandcamp.   The sound is raw, over loaded dual vocals, rough guitars, and straightforward goodness.  Check out the opener:

Big Voyage – “All The Love”

big voyage

A few weeks ago I posted on Brooklyn’s Big Voyage (Elias Ravin) and his thick and deeply captivating bass music.  His EP, Be The One, now has an official release date (June 25th) and a place to buy it (Juno Download).  He’s also just dropped his “one and only relaxing tune, ever” from the EP entitled “All The Love”.  Take a listen:

teen suicide goblin problems

teen suicide – “i wanna be a witch”

teen suicide goblin problems

teen suicide (Sam Ray & Eric Livingston) have just released a new 3-songer entitled goblin problems, a follow up to the super sweet DC snuff film.  This has the duo recording with real microphones but that doesn’t’ affect the raw lo-fi basement energy the band produces.  That being said, my favorite of the trio of songs is “i wanna be a witch”, a soft beautiful guitar strummed ending to the album that was recorded via the tape player.  The delicate electric guitar melody sewn through this track is something else.

Seatraffic Crimes

Seatraffic – “Crimes”

Seatraffic Crimes

Last year I was caught up in San Francisco’s Seatraffic (Mark Zannad and Brandon Harrison) and their beachy Beach House-esque single Speed Limits.  They’ve put out a S/T EP since then and are about to release a new 7″, Crimes, in July which is a darker ride, bringing up feelings (and longings) for the older Interpol vibe.  Check it:

Crimes will be out on a limited 300 press run but will also be available digitally for free.

Cuushe – “I Dreamt About Silence” / “Do you know the way to sleep”

cuushe

I’m half asleep right now so it seems fitting that Cuushe’s dream-pop slides gracefully into my ears and shuffles me in between daydream states.  Her new EP, girl you know that i am here but the dream, comes out on June 20th and features the two stellar tracks below as well as a few more including remixes from Teen Daze, Blackbird Blackbird, Botany, Julia Holter, Kixnare, Motion Sickness Of Time Travel, Federico Durand,  and Geskia!.  Pick it up from Japan’s flau records here.
